THA ATTENDS AHF CONGRESS / SEMINAR IN NAIROBI IN AUGUST 2007
We (CHAIRMAN /SECRETARY) left for Nairobi on Tuesday and arrived very late in night due to bad roads and the next day we checked into Grand Regency hotel. The seminar was conducted by different personalities for 2 days. It was mainly on the how to conduct / handle tournaments and etc.
A total of 14 countries took part in the seminar and the congress. The countries which took part are:-
KENYA, UGANDA, TANZANIA, SEYCHELLS, ZAMBIA, NAMIBIA, ZIMBABWE, SOUTH AFRICA, GHANA, EGYPT, NIGERIA, LIBYA, MORROCO, AND MALAWI.
The dignitaries present were:- FIH PRESIDENT, EUROPEAN HOCKEY ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT, AFRICA HOCKEY PRESIDENT, CLAIRE DIGBY AND THE REST OF THE COMMITTEE MEMBERS OF AHF.
Luckily we took the banners which we distributed to them and they appreciated very much. Furthermore, we exchange the visiting cards and build lots of contacts with the member states.
The seminar went quite ok and it was educative and interesting also, as we gain lot of input from the seminar and hoped to implement into our tournaments.
AHF also arranged a congress dinner, which was fully packed and interesting one. In the congress they also praised Tanzania that we are coming up slowly and are not dormant like other member states.
There were guest speakers from Ghana, South Africa, and outside Africa too. However, after looking at the other teams such as Nigeria, Ghana and Kenya, they have improved a quite lot. Overall it was quite ok
