TANZANIA FOR 4TH WORLD YOUTH HOCKEY PROMOTERS FESTIVAL – CANANDA - 2008

 

This festival took off from 27th April upto 3rd May 2008 in Victoria, Canada.

Tanzania was represented by a 16 year old youth Namely Jay Bharat Lodhia of Moshi in this festival. He was joined in Canada by other 25 youths from below mentioned 25 countries;-

From Africa :-       Tanzania and South Africa.
From Asia ;-           Bangladesh, India, Hongkong, Thailand,
Others :-               Barbados, Canada, Croatia, England, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Paraguay, Poland, Scotland, Trinidad & Tobago, America, Wales, Argentina

The aim of this world Youth Hockey Promoters festival was;-   to select the world youth hockey promoter, to learn about hockey leadership , to create intercultural awareness and friendship among the youths.

While in Canada, every participant was given only 7 minutes to present their presentations in front of the international staff (F.I.H) out of which 6 best presentations was selected for the final. The finalist made their presentation to an international jury, consisting of hockey journalist, members of the Federal of International Hockey (FIH) and Field Hockey Canada. The finalist strived for the title of “world hockey promoter 2008”

Meanwhile a short ceremony was held at the office of Hon Mohamed babu the Regional Commissioner of Moshi on 24th April in order to bid farewell to Jay Bharat Lodhia, which was also witnessed by other dignitaries such as the  District Commissioner Mr. Samizi,  THA Chairman – Shakkir Badruddin, Committee member Monu Singh, Youth Coach /mentor – Nitesh Virji. The Regional Commissioner appreciated the efforts of THA and further stressed that private companies should join hands in developing / promoting the sports.

As this was a unique opportunity for Tanzania to be represented in this festival by Jay Bharat Lodhia who also happens to be a student of International School of Moshi.
