ADVANCE LEVEL REGIONAL UMPIRING COURSE – ARUSHA 2007
The course started on 26th October 2007 and got ended on 28th Ocotber 2007. It took place at a Twiga Sports Complex in Arusha which being in the city centre and nearer to hotels also.

Before the start of the course, the participants were registered and were given the kits. The Chairman of Tanzania Hockey Association Mr. Shakkir Badrudin opened the seminar with the introduction of the course conductor
Mr. Dennis Perkins from South Africa.
Total numbers of participants were 24 from the following countries:-
From Zambia :- 7 participants (6 males and I female)
Alex Musanda, Gabrial Mukwinda, Victor Mwila, Zulu Hazel, Peter Selekana,
Richard Kamoya, Elias Nyindo.
From Kenya:- only 5 participants ( all males)
Duncan Ndolo, Mike dome, Mongare Doughlas, Benson Soimo, Tom Odeng.
From Tanzania:- 12 Participants (all Males)
Simranpal Ghattora, Osman Bairu, Hansel Savio, Shakir Badrudin,
Thomas Etoma, Ibrahim Barthazar, Julius Sweya, Paskal Miller, Inderjit Rehal, Kaushik Doshi, Castro Mayuma, Abdallah Seif
Every subject was covered by Dennis Perkins and he also asked the participants if they wish to touch any subject besides. The participants were also taken on the field for practical explanation of the umpires’ position on ground.
Dennis also explained to participants as to what beep test is about, because only few had done the beep test, eventually Dennis took the beep test of all the participants and found out that almost all were fit.
There were 2 health breaks (morning / Afternoon) in a session daily whereby bites / tea/ coffee/ water were being provided by the host ( Tanzania Hockey Association).
The weather was cool and pleasant one, and all the participants made their stay in Arusha a pleasant one.
Tanzanian participants who came from different parts of Tanzania were happy to be part of this seminar along with the other participants from Zambia and Kenya. Unfortunately Uganda couldn’t make it.
At the conclusion of the course, Dennis told the participants to share the knowledge gained and the secretary of Tanzania Hockey Association Kaushik Doshi closed the Seminar with a few words of Appreciation to FIH, AHF, CLAIRE DIBY, DENNIS PERKINS , all the participants and Twiga Sports Club. The leader of the each delegation from Kenya / zambia said a few words too.
In the end ,Dennis was appreciated with memories of Tanzania from Tanzania Hockey Association. All the participants were awarded the certificates and 2 cds which included course materials which were discussed.
To add colour to this event, Tanzania Hockey Association organized a get together Lunch for all the participants at the end of the course.All in all, everybody enjoyed very well and were happy as they gained the required knowledge.
