Sponsored by FIH, the course was one of the projects contained in the memorandum signed by East Africa hockey playing countries. The course instructor, Doug Neilson, came from South Africa. Thirty seven participants took part in the course, with the majority coming from Tanzania and few from Kenya/Uganda.
